The Bad Feathers

Heather Marold Thomason
Co-Founder / Design Director / Ma Feather
Heather is a designer, business lady, and the matriarch of Bad Feather. Since 2002 she has worked independently under the studio name HM Projects and has designed for a number of award-winning design studios and advertising agencies in New York City and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Heather has created successful identities and campaigns for the Apollo Theater, The New Mexico Museum Foundation, The Guggenheim Museum and the National Urban League. In 2005 she and Brad teamed up and began to design websites and in 2008, Bad Feather Inc. was born.
In her formative years, Heather trained to be a dancer and at one time studied at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. She no longer performs on stages, but still enjoys wearing costumes and getting down.
Brad Thomason
Co-Founder / Web Development Director / Pa Feather
Brad is a designer and web developer. Prior to teaming up with Heather, he developed multiple micro-sites for Popular Science Magazine’s PopSci.com and CartoonNetwork.com, and created portfolio site platforms for artists and designers. Brad is versed in all things XHTML, CSS, and PHP, and is handy in animating with JQuery and Actionscript. Over the past two years, Brad has steered Bad Feather’s web focus to using the open-source tool WordPress as a complete content management system (CMS) for client sites.
Before moving to New York in 2004, Brad co-founded the artist-in-residence Hueyhaus in the outskirts of Santa Fe, New Mexico. He also spent a couple of years as a High School art teacher.
Our Collaborators
We Bad Feathers know you can’t do everything alone if you want to do it well. Lucky for us, we have lots of talented friends! We collaborate with specialist studios and fellow creatives whenever the project calls. What that means for our clients is a small, personal, full-service studio with the capacity for bigger, badder projects.
